Difference Sketchup Pro vs Make

In addition to the license, the programs in the versions of Make and Pro also have different capabilities, although at first glance, we will not notice. Below are some of the most important differences between these versions.

The Pro version provides us with email technical support in the event of any problems with the program.

One of the most noticeable differences in the Make version is the lack of the ability to import files in the so-called CADs (DWG, DXF), but also 3D models (DWG, DXF, FBX, OBJ, VRML, XSI).
Additionally, in the free version of the program, we can not export our models to such formats as: 3DS, DWG, DXF, FBX, OBJ, VRML, XSI,

In the free version, we do not have the possibility to prepare project documentation, because the additional program for creating documentation in the so-called Sketchup package. LayOut only works on the PRO version, in Make we have blocked access to it. Consequently, the possibility of printing is also limited. A paid license provides us with a multi-page printout on any size of the sheet. In the non-commercial version, we can only print individual views of the SketchUp model.
In the case of 3D modeling in the PRO version, we have access to the advanced camera.
In both programs, we can of course use plug-ins and models from the huge Warehouse catalog or import aerial photos from Google Earth. It has ensured integration with Google 3D Warehouse and Google Earth.

Despite the clear limitations of the free version of Sketchup, you can work on it without any features. Modeling what is the greatest asset of the program is not limited. Any additional features that the PRO version has are really just additional, designed for more advanced projects. Usually, this is associated with designing for profit purposes as well. For your own use, you can do without these few features of the paid version. Technical drawings, e.g., can be created in another program. On the other hand, an advanced camera only has to help us set the right frame, the same final effects if we try harder, we can get it without her help. I also recommend not to be discouraged if at the beginning we allow ourselves to work on the Make version, because it can also create an interesting project

Export and import SketchUp preferences

After making changes to your preferences, SketchUp will automatically save them. If you work on your 3D models on two different computers or update from one computer to another, you can export your preferences from one copy of SketchUp and import them into another. This section explains how to export and import preferences for the current operating system. On Mac OS X, you can save a keyboard shortcut file to a new or different computer. Your keyboard shortcuts are automatically saved in the following location: Users / [username] / Library / Support App / SketchUp # / SketchUp / Shortcuts.plist Just copy the file to the same location on another Mac, and the shortcuts will work.
