SketchUp Free, or free 3D modeling

With the arrival of the next version of SketchUp in 2017, Trimble has made the free tool, SketchUp Free, available to anyone interested in 3D design. Now everyone can use the advantages of SketchUp by running the program on any web browser, and having access to their projects wherever they are.


SketchUp Free uses the same modeling engine you know from the version installed on your computer. For work we can use any web browser installed in any operating system (also in Linux). The only requirement is access to the Internet.

Export and import SketchUp preferences

After making changes to your preferences, SketchUp will automatically save them. If you work on your 3D models on two different computers or update from one computer to another, you can export your preferences from one copy of SketchUp and import them into another. This section explains how to export and import preferences for the current operating system. On Mac OS X, you can save a keyboard shortcut file to a new or different computer. Your keyboard shortcuts are automatically saved in the following location: Users / [username] / Library / Support App / SketchUp # / SketchUp / Shortcuts.plist Just copy the file to the same location on another Mac, and the shortcuts will work.
